Mountain collapse in Sichuan, southwest China, results in 19 fatalities

19 people were killed when a landslip tore through a mining company's worker dormitory early on Sunday morning in southwest China; other miners were evacuated to safety, according to Global Times.

The calamity occurred in a mountainous rural area of Leshan county in Sichuan province, where it had been raining nonstop for days.

The search and rescue operations came to an end Sunday night, and the collapse's reason is being looked into.

14 specialised rescue machines were sent to the location together with more than 180 rescue specialists.
