Dubai Metro's new 30-kilometer Blue Line and What the route could look like
Will the Dubai Metro Blue Line be located here? A new route to relieve congestion is definitely a good step, especially when traffic in the city seems to be at an all-time high.
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai announced in October that it intended to begin construction on a new metro line.
It's still early, of course. The authority said in October that it was looking for contractors to express interest in working on the new design and construction of a brand-new line that would be called the Dubai Metro Blue Line.
It will connect the Red and Green Lines and span 30 km, comprising 15.5 km below ground and 14.5 km above. It's estimated that there will be 14 stations along the line, five of them will be subterranean.
A map of the proposed locations of the 14 stations, which include stops at Muhaisnah, International City, The Villa, and Damac Hills, is currently making the rounds online. The Metro Blue Line may be able to assist in adding even more suburban districts of Dubai to the current arterial network if the sites prove to be accurate.
Although this isn't an official image from Dubai's RTA, it may show what the popular network in Dubai might look like in the future. It doesn't confirm that the stations on the map are where the Blue Line (or others) would eventually reside.
The map, which was posted on Wikimedia Commons, also shows when the Gold, Pink, and Purple lines will be built in addition to future extensions of the Red and Green lines.
Many people utilize the Dubai Metro, which opened in September 2009, to commute throughout the city. Nearly 450 million people rode the Dubai Metro in 2023 alone, from January to August, with over 1.8 million using it every day. The Metro is used for more over one-third of all daily public transportation trips in Dubai.
At the moment, the Red Line links the airport, old city, and Dubai Marina with Expo 2020 in the southwest, while the Green Line stations are located in Deira and Bur Dubai, the old town.
